Swiss Lathe Machinist

We have positions available on first and second shift for Swiss Lathe Machinists at our Tooling Facility in North Canton, OH


Sets up and operates one or more single or multiple spindle horizontal lathes to perform series of machining operations such as turning, boring, threading, milling and facing, on metal work-pieces such as tool steel and stainless steel bar stock by performing the following duties.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Reads blueprint, job order, tooling instructions, or standard charts to determine product specifications, work holding arrangement, cutting speeds, feed rates, and cutting tools to be used.

Uses CNC machine control to set spindle speeds, feed rates and machine movements to produce parts per provided designed mold components for specified operations.

Program CNC machine control manually or using CAM software.

Verifies conformance of turned work-pieces to specifications using optical comparators, micrometers and vision systems.

Decides on station and timing of each operation to assure efficient use of tools and time.

Sets up all tooling to perform operations.

Sets up bar feeder for continuous operation.

Computes such data as dimensions, rotation speeds, and feed rates.

Performs required data collection and record maintenance.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  Tight tolerance work, +/- 0.0002”


Requires machine shop training in mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties and layout and machining procedures.  CAD and CAM experience is a plus.  Mold building experience is a plus.
